Set in the core of the city, the Perdana Botanical Garden is the oldest public park in Kuala Lumpur. This 225-acre (91-hectare) site is home to the Kuala Lumpur bird park, hibiscus and orchid garden, a butterfly sanctuary and a deer park, the main attraction being its central lake surrounded by lush greenery. The garden has not only botanical collections, but also house features that give tourists the feeling of being in a tropical rainforest while being in the centre of a busy metropolis.
Sunway Lagoon Theme Park is situated in Petaling Jaya, 15 km southwest of Kuala Lumpur city centre. With an array of water rides and a myriad of dry-land activities on offer, there are a few more enjoyable ways to spend a day. Water slides that whirl and twirl, a manmade 'river' coaster, a surf beach, a wave pool, a 360-degree pirate ship. This park was opened in 1992. After its completion, Malaysia's first surf simulator, FlowRider, was introduced to the theme park in 2010, Malaysia's first 5D Waterplexx in 2012 and a massive water ride, Vuvuzela, in 2013.
Berjaya Times Square Theme Park is named Malaysia's largest indoor theme park and is situated on the fifth floor of the Berjaya Times Square Mall. The 35,300 square metre park is divided into two sections: the Galaxy Station is built for adults, while the Fantasy Garden is distinctly child-centric. One of its main attractions is the 800-metre-long Supersonic Odyssey roller coaster, a custom-made loop ride with a heart line roller, a loop and a corkscrew inversion.
Located in Shah Alam, i-City is a breathtaking 72-acre theme park well-known for its nightly vibrant showcase of LED-light attractions as well as thrilling rides and exclusive museums. Known as the City of Digital Lights, i-City is within an hour's drive from central Kuala Lumpur and hosts an array of exciting activities, including a huge water park, 3D and wax museums, and Malaysia's largest snow park.
The Kepong Metropolitan Park, situated at the north end of Jinjang, is popular among locals for kite flying activities that are performed in this public facility on a daily basis. The perfect place for kite enthusiasts, there is a large field that runs parallel road in the park, which is specifically built for this purpose. Most of the barriers and trees have been removed to ensure a clearance of at least 100 m for the kites to be removed. Visitors to the park can see a lot of professional kite flyers here demonstrating their ability to fly massive kites, some as high as 30 feet.
